Nine Lessons and Carols, 10:30 am
December 22 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
The service of Nine Lessons with Carols was originally written by Archbishop Benson when Bishop of Truro, Cornwall, England in the 1880 for use in that Cathedral. It was then modified for use in King’s College Chapel, Cambridge in 1918. It is this version that has been made famous by being sung every Christmas Eve by the King’s College Chapel choir and broadcast world wide. Perhaps we would not truly celebrate Christmas without hearing this service, beginning with the solo Treble singing ‘Once in royal David’s city’ through to the great mystery of the Gospel of John 1 reading.
