The water of baptism symbolizes the washing away of our old lives
and the new life we are raised to in Jesus Christ. In the early
Church, adults who professed their desire to follow Jesus were
baptized by immersion in water. Although most of us today are only
familiar with infant baptism, in fact, the Anglican Church welcomes
people for baptism at any age, young and old.
Do we baptize anyone?
Yes, anyone who confesses Jesus as the one they want to follow in
their lives. We follow Jesus by regularly participating in our
worshipping community, by reading the Bible, by praying, and by
using our gifts and abilities to serve others in the wider
community.
Is there a fee for baptism?
No. Baptism is a free gift, a sign of God's grace and love towards
us.
I am interested in being baptized or in having my child baptized.
What do I do?
You are welcome to contact Grace Church and speak to the Rector, the
Rev. Tim Smart.
You will meet with him to talk about baptism, be able to ask any questions
you have, and set a date for the baptism.
